Advocating for CCC Faculty & Students in Sacramento

FACCC Advocacy & Policy Conference
March 6-7, 2011

The annual Advocacy and Policy Conference in Sacramento is scheduled for March 6th and 7th, 2011. The conference is sponsored by the Faculty Association of California Community Colleges (FACCC), a statewide professional membership association that advocates solely for California Community College faculty. The theme of this year's conference is "You spend the academic year educating your students. Spend two days educating the Legislature." On Sunday, March 6th, the Advocacy and Policy Conference features workshops and policy discussions on the state budget, student access, and California's current political climate. In the afternoon, there will be a hands-on advocacy training session led by grassroots organizers in preparation for meeting with elected representatives on Monday, March 7th. The Advocacy and Policy Conference provides faculty with an opportunity to learn how to advocate for our students and our colleges and to apply that knowledge in face-to-face meetings with State assembly members, senators, and legislative staff. To learn more about FACCC's Advocacy and Policy Conference, visit http://www.faccc.org/2011_A&P.html. Faculty interested in being reimbursed for conference registration fees, for one or both days of the conference, may contact Candy Shell, AFA Office Coordinator, at 535-3766 or via e-mail at cshell@santarosa.edu.
