Learn more about FACCC contract membership before voting
November 14 — 18
In recent weeks, we have emailed and snail-mailed to all faculty information about FACCC contract membership. (Click here to read the FAQs about FACCC contract membership.) Establishing this relationship with FACCC is mutually beneficial and important: it strengthens FACCC in its legislative advocacy work on our behalf, and it provides increased support for SRJC faculty here at home.
At its September 28th meeting, the AFA Executive Council voted unanimously to ask the AFA membership to vote on becoming a FACCC contract member and to recommend a "yes" vote. We all understand that California's economic pressures have denied thousands of students access to an affordable community college education. In the face of reduced funding that is causing faculty layoffs and reductions to the schedule and to our programs, as well as increasing attacks on academic freedom and public sector pensions, supporting FACCC through a contract membership has never been more crucial.
AFA sent out electronic ballots on Monday, November 14th. Please fill out your ballot and return it right away—before the Friday, November 18th deadline.
